2 WAY INTERACTION

2WayChat

  • Chat is a key mode of interaction. Students craft and present their messages, queries, response and feedback in a non-intrusive way to the Faculty.
  • Session Chat is a One-to-Many chat mode. Session chat messages are private and cannot be viewed by any other classroom. This is especially required when the faculty asks impromptu queries from individual classroom or students. Faculty messages are transmitted to all classrooms at the same time. The Session chat window can be displayed on the main display at any time so that entire CR can view the messages being sent. This is useful when students wish to chat from their seats using the wireless keyboards.
  • Support Chat is a One-to-One chat mode, typically used between center support staff and PCR staff at the studio. Center staff may use their mobile devices so they need not disturb the class session. Support Chat is password-restricted to center staff.
  • Students marked Present appear in a panel next to the Session chat window. A student’s name must be clicked before sending a message, this associates a student with the outgoing message. Through this facility, the faculty can recognize and respond to the individual student.

2WayCall

  • To ease the transactional distance between Faculty and students, it is important that effortless interaction is possible between them. 2WayCall enables point to point audio-video latencies as low as 100 ms. This is as good as being in the same room. The 2WayCall operates on a separate capacity and uses separate AV endpoints for the duration of the call. Upon activating 2WayCall the ongoing Instruction Mode session is dropped automatically, and Interaction Mode is activated. After the 2Waycall is over the Instruction Mode will automatically re-establish. Other sites continue in Instruction mode and witness the interaction.
  • It is also possible for a CR to independently initiate and enter the Interaction mode with the studio at any time, and impromptu speaks with the Faculty.
  • 2WayCall uses a portable AV device which can be positioned close to an interacting student in the classroom, enabling a clear AV interaction.

Centralized Classrooms Monitoring System

  • A classroom IP Cam enables the studio to continuously monitor the students. Coupled with SPS, Faculty, and PCR can understand compliant or deviant behavior. The CR-IPCam can transmit in high resolutions and with good clarity.
  • The CCMS can make an overhead announcement to any CR at any time without disturbing Faculty session. Similarly, they can eavesdrop into remote classroom sounds and conversation at any time.
  • CR AV may be recorded on-demand for later analysis, incident reporting etc.
  • The CCMS is used for 2-way interaction with the Faculty or with the PCR during Instruction Mode. Typical latencies will be 2-3 seconds when used with BigNet.

Student Presence System

  • Manual attendance is mandated per session. Class coordinator updates the student’s presence when they enter or leave, the classroom. Presence/absence can be updated at any time.
  • At the Faculty end, an SPS panel shows the name and face of present students in each classroom. This enables the Faculty to recognize and respond to students by name.
  • A student image can be brought in focus at any time such that the Faculty is able to recognize the student easily, even from afar.

2Way Connectivity

A wide variety of setups

From specially designed studios or studio-classrooms, Teachers can view, teach, assess, instruct and interact with students at remote classrooms. A wide variety of setups can be accommodated ranging from but not limited to, Physical whiteboard, digital whiteboard, PC or Tab based PPT, unlimited number and combination of audio and video sources and their presentation

BigNet is an Internet aggregation tool, which can be deployed on any Classroom PC to aggregate multiple internet links such that all connected capacities virtually appear as one big connection. Any number of links can be connected to the PC to operate in a fail-over and load-sharing manner

2WL operates in two modes namely, Instruction mode and Interaction mode.

The two modes operate independently of each other so much so that the end equipment for the two modes at the studio and CR are also separate.

Quality Groups

  • Unlike whiteboard collaboration systems which are predominantly desktop/whiteboard focused applications with the faculty relegated to a lower-quality, low-resolution PIP window. 2WayLive is a broadcast-grade, HD-quality video distribution platform which puts board-teaching faculty firmly ‘up-and-center’. During the Instruction mode the System is capable of studio transmission of Faculty video at Full High Definition and lower rates. Remote classroom PCs can receive the transmission at multiple selectable rates, as may be configured for a network.
  • Currently 2 QGs have been envisaged. Each QG offers a distinct combination of Transmission and Reception rates
    • QG1 offers 1080p Full HD @ 2 Mbps, 720p HD @ 1 Mbps, and 405p DVD @ 0.5 Mbps.
    • QG2 offer 1080p Full HD @ 1.2 Mbps, 720p HD @ 0.6 Mbps, and 405p DVD @ 0.3 Mbps

  • Studio will transmit at FHD or HD, while reception can happen at Multiple Rates.
  • With Full High Definition transmission, a choice of three reception rates are is available.
With High Definition transmission, two reception rates are available.
Each CR can independently choose their reception rate.
  • An option of Single Rate Transmission and Reception is also available.
